Exemplary illustration of an autonomous truck on swapbody
The challenge
In the course of expanding the site, the customer’s internal transport volume had increased. For this reason, as part of the optimisation of the logistics processes, a complete automation of the outdoor goods transport between loading and unloading was aimed for, as well as the structural expansion of logistics halls. For this process, the use of AGV with hybrid navigation was necessary due to the on-site conditions. Furthermore, a control system for the control and coordination of the entire process sequence and an interface structure to the existing IT and infrastructure systems were also required.
Sector | Project start | Route network | Navigation |
Automotive | 2018 | 4 km | Transponder/DGPS |
AGV type | AGV weight | AGV quantity | Integrations |
Large AGV, DGPS and transponder navigated | max. Max. 20 t payload | 7 | WMS, material-flowmonitoring, trafficlights, high-speeddoors, automatedloadingramps |
The solution approach
On the basis of the key process parameters targeted by the customer, a simulation of the process sequences was carried out in movizon CONTROL. This enabled the required number of vehicles to be determined on the basis of time data for upstream and downstream processes and the transport volume to be achieved – without having to use real vehicles.
In addition, a connection was made to the customer’s IT systems in the form of an interface to the goods management and material-flow systems. Due to the strategic planning and implementation of the control system, it was possible to implement the system at the same time as the newly built warehouses were put into operation. A further requirement of the customer was to guarantee the expandability of the system at a later date.
Furthermore, subsequent optimisations were implemented through the cooperation with our partner and shareholder, Götting KG, and other project partners.
movizon CONTROL in operation – The result
Through the utilisation of our ATS control system movizon CONTROL, it was possible to successfully implement the transports on the outdoor site.
- Efficient handling of the internal transport of goods from loading to unloading of the AGV
- Successful linking of existing and new infrastructures with the automation solution
- Connection to the goods-management system for automated order control
- Connection to material-flow system for central monitoring of the entire plant
- Guarantee for future extensions and optimisations of the AGV system
